Where Is Your Focus?

This message is specifically to believers in Christ, but anyone would do well to read it and take it to heart.

You have heard that ‘the mind is a terrible thing to waste‘. The mind is not only a terrible thing to waste, but a terrible thing to taint.

As a Christian, do you realize that you need to keep your mind clean?

As believers in Christ, we are admonished to ‘renew‘ our mind.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.  (Romans 12:1-2)

Do you realize that as a Christian you are set apart as holy? The Blood of Christ paid for your sins, but do you continue to offend God?

Do you realize that as a Christian, you should not be watching bad or perverse videos or movies? Do you know that you should put away filthy thoughts from your mind? Do you know that you should focus on what is good and pure and lovely? If you don’t, you have not read the Word of God. The Word of God instructs us Christians on how to live:

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.  For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. (Colossians 3:1-17)

Brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthythink about such things. (Philippians 4:8)

I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, Who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 4:1-5)

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—because the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said:

“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 5:1-20)

You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. (1 Thessalonians 5:5-6)

The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you can pray. (1 Peter 4:7)

When we are judged by God, we will be judged not only for our deeds but also for our inmost thoughts as well. God sees and knows everything we think, do and speak. Nothing is hidden from Him.

Many Christians in this day and age live like pagans and don’t realize it. To those Christians, I say ‘Watch out!‘ You are being judged more strictly precisely because you gave your life to Christ.

Jesus Christ is coming as Judge very soon!

As Christians, we must get our spiritual house in order. We must cleanse our minds and are bodies of all spiritual filth, focus on the Word of God and put it into practice!

To every Christian I say:

The time given to you now is for repentance.
Make up your mind to stop sinning.
Make up your mind to read God’s word daily and to pray.
Make up your mind to practice God’s word in your life.

There is not much time left!
Jesus Christ will come when we do not expect Him.

You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him. (Matthew 24:44)

Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed. (Revelation 16:15)

Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.  (Revelation 3:3).

You don’t know when Jesus will come, it could be tomorrow!

When His Brilliant Light exposes your life, your heart and your mind, what will He, the King of Kings, see?
