In today’s world, many people seek pleasure to escape from the pain of life’s trials, but they do not realize that seeking pleasure in the wrong things leads to more pain!
Today I want to show you a better way.
Before I do, I want you to imagine this:
You are imprisoned in a dark dungeon with chains on your hands and feet.
The air is musty, mold lines the walls and rats are running around.
It is a most dark, miserable and terrible place.
Now imagine that all of a sudden at the door of this dungeon a tiny ray of light peers through.
Your heart swells with hope and you try to move toward the door but you cannot because of the chains on your hands and feet, so you begin to pray with all of your strength that somehow that light will open the door and flood this dark, horrible place with light, loose your chains and set you free.
Well this light has come to you today, so pay attention!
The dark miserable dungeon is the world of sin: drunkenness, orgies, drugs, pornography and the like.
The light is the brilliant light of God’s love, truth and holiness.
If you continue to wallow in the world of sin and orgies you will remain in this dungeon and those very sins will drag you to the depths of hell, where darkness and torment will be your lot FOREVER!
I ask you today: Do you desire the light?
I ask you again: Do you truly desire the light?
If you do, read on.
My friend, you need to know that there are much higher pleasures than eating and drinking and sexual orgies.
There are pleasures of the spirit!
You may ask: What are pleasures of the spirit?
Have you ever smelled a rose and felt the pleasure of its fragrance?
When your child gives you a hug and tell you they love you, are you not flooded with the pleasure of their innocent love?
When you are suffering a trial and a friend wipes your tears and tell you they will help and support you and be there for you, does not that fill your heart with hope and joy?
Well, magnify that a thousand times and you have God’s love, which is infinitely greater than the love of any child or any friend!
Now imagine a world of infinite pleasure.
Can you do that?
Do you know that such a place exists?
Yes, it does exist! It is called the Kingdom of Heaven!
Do you want to be there now?
Do you want to be there for all eternity?
If you do, listen to this:
What no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love Him. (1 Corinthians 2:9)
These are the pleasures prepared, prepared ahead of time, for who?
For those who love God!
Now listen to this:
Reward in the World to Come: In the World to Come there is infinite, unfathomable pleasure. The mouth cannot describe the beauty of that world, nor can the eye see the radiance of the glory of the righteous.
You must understand and know that just as the fish cannot know the pleasure of the bird that flies in the air, and the bird cannot know the pleasure of the fish that swims in the sea, their natures being diverse — the bird dying in water and the fish dying on dry land — so he who is in this world, his soul enmeshed in his body, cannot know the pleasure of the souls.
For we know only the pleasures of the body, but we cannot conceive of and recognize the soul’s delight in the higher pleasures without great thought. This is because we are in the world of bodies and can recognize only ephemeral, temporal pleasures.
But the pleasures of the soul are never-ending, infinite. There is no connection, resemblance, or closeness whatsoever between the two types of pleasures. And one who merits the latter pleasures after his death will spurn the former, just as a king would be averse to divesting himself of his royal garments and playing in the streets with children. (The Ways of the Tzaddikim)
My friend, do you desire this world of unending pleasure?
If you do, here is what you must do:
Accept God’s Son, Jesus Christ, as your Savior, ask His forgiveness, then follow the way of love, mercy and truth and divest yourself of all darkness and sin!
I challenge you right now: Let go of sin!
Make up your mind right now to let go of ALL sin!
Ask God to help you get out of the dungeon of slavery to sin and choose the higher pleasures!
Love God and God will delight in you and God will grant you unending joy, peace and yes… pleasure!
