Does God Exist?

Does God Exist?

To answer this question, consider this: Ultimately, there are only two groups of people: those on the side of TRUTH and those on the side of the lie.

The TRUTH is that God does exist, but there are those who choose to believe the lie that He does not.

We know that God exists because in the Bible, God reveals His power, His purposes and His plans. If you have any doubt that the Bible is the word of God, I suggest you read my post Is the Bible the Word of God?

The Bible states that the test of whether something is truth or not is manifested in power, as it is written in 1 Corinthians 4:20:

‘For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power

Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God demonstrated His all-encompassing power by performing many miracles, among which was to raise people from the dead.  If you do not believe that God exists, I challenge you with this statement:  Until you personally have the power to raise people from the dead, you cannot rightfully claim to know better than God and disagree with His word.

The Bible is full of accounts of God’s manifested power. God Himself challenges man and reveals His almighty power in areas people may have never even considered. Take a look at what is written in Job 38:1-33…

Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm. He said:

“Who is this that obscures my plans

   with words without knowledge?

Brace yourself like a man;

   I will question you,

   and you shall answer Me.

“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?

   Tell me, if you understand.

Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!

   Who stretched a measuring line across it?

On what were its footings set,

   or who laid its cornerstone—

while the morning stars sang together

   and all the angels shouted for joy?

“Who shut up the sea behind doors

   when it burst forth from the womb,

when I made the clouds its garment

   and wrapped it in thick darkness,

when I fixed limits for it

   and set its doors and bars in place,

when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther;

   here is where your proud waves halt’?

“Have you ever given orders to the morning,

   or shown the dawn its place,

that it might take the earth by the edges

   and shake the wicked out of it?

The earth takes shape like clay under a seal;

   its features stand out like those of a garment.

The wicked are denied their light,

   and their upraised arm is broken.

“Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea

   or walked in the recesses of the deep?

Have the gates of death been shown to you?

   Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?

Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?

   Tell me, if you know all this.

“What is the way to the abode of light?

   And where does darkness reside?

Can you take them to their places?

   Do you know the paths to their dwellings?

Surely you know, for you were already born!

   You have lived so many years!

“Have you entered the storehouses of the snow

   or seen the storehouses of the hail,

which I reserve for times of trouble,

   for days of war and battle?

What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed,

   or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?

Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain,

   and a path for the thunderstorm,

to water a land where no one lives,

   an uninhabited desert,

to satisfy a desolate wasteland

   and make it sprout with grass?

Does the rain have a father?

   Who fathers the drops of dew?

From whose womb comes the ice?

   Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens

when the waters become hard as stone,

   when the surface of the deep is frozen?

“Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades?

   Can you loosen Orion’s belt?

Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons

   or lead out the Bear with its cubs?

Do you know the laws of the heavens?

   Can you set up God’s dominion over the earth?

Now listen to what Job says in response to God as it is written in Job 42:1-6…

Then Job replied to the Lord:

“I know that you can do all things;

   no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’

   Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,

   things too wonderful for me to know.

“You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak;

   I will question you,

   and you shall answer me.’

My ears had heard of you

   but now my eyes have seen you.

Therefore I despise myself

   and repent in dust and ashes.”

God exists, He has unlimited power and His enemies will be completely destroyed!  Consider the following Bible passages:

Those who oppose the Lord will be shattered. (1 Samuel 2:10)

——

The Lord is slow to anger but great in power;
the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished.

The Lord takes vengeance on His foes
and vents his wrath against His enemies.

The mountains quake before Him
and the hills melt away.

The earth trembles at His presence,
the world and all who live in it.

Who can withstand His indignation?
Who can endure His fierce anger?

His wrath is poured out like fire;
the rocks are shattered before Him.

(Selections from Nahum Chapter 1)

——

There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.

(Proverbs 21:30)

——

But transgressors will be altogether destroyed;
The posterity of the wicked will be cut off.
(Psalm 37:38)

——

Because they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord and what His hands have done,
He will tear them down and never build them up again.

(Psalm 28:5)

——

Fire goes before Him and consumes His foes on every side. His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. (Psalm 97:3-5)

——

Senseless people do not know,
fools do not understand,
that though the wicked spring up like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they will be destroyed forever.

But you, Lord, are forever exalted.

For surely your enemies, Lord,
surely your enemies will perish;
all evildoers will be scattered.
(Psalm 92:6-9)

——

But those enemies of Mine who did not want Me to be king over them—

bring them here and kill them in front of Me.

(Luke 19:27)

——

In conclusion, those on the side of the truth will LIVE and REJOICE forever IN the TRUTH, and those who side with the lie will die and be forever destroyed BY the TRUTH!

In which camp do you stand?

If you are in the wrong camp, I suggest you make the right decision NOW!  Tomorrow may be too late!  Remember that tomorrow is in God’s hands and He may decide not to give you tomorrow!

——

Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.”      (John 12:35-36)

——

“I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more.

But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him Who, after the killing of the body,

has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him.” (Luke 12:4-5)

——

He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

Now that you know the TRUTH, let the TRUTH set you FREE!
